Introduction of Immunofluorescence (IF) Services (2023)
The Department of Pathology at Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute, Thrissur, commenced Immunofluorescence (IF) services in 2023. The Immunofluorescence Laboratory provides specialized diagnostic evaluation for medical renal biopsies and skin biopsies, facilitating accurate diagnosis and classification of various renal and dermatological disorders. The service plays a crucial role in the diagnosis of glomerular diseases, autoimmune disorders, and immunobullous skin diseases, thereby contributing to improved patient care and management.Since its inception, the laboratory has been catering not only to the requirements of the institution but also receiving biopsy specimens from external hospitals and healthcare centers across the region. The availability of this specialized facility has reduced the need for referral to distant centers and has enhanced timely diagnostic support for clinicians. The department remains committed to maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy through the use of advanced techniques, trained personnel, and adherence to established laboratory protocols.
