Sensitization Training : “Safe OTC, safer you: Student campaign on ADR Reporting”

The Pharmacovigilance Committee organized an outreach awareness program for the students and staff of the Department of Zoology, St. Thomas College on 18th September 2025, titled “Safe OTC, Safer You: Student Campaign on ADR Reporting.” The session was led by Dr. Gitty Thimothy and focused on creating awareness regarding adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting, rational drug use, and the risks associated with irrational self-medication.

Around 90 students actively participated in the program, which included an interactive quiz competition conducted through Google Forms and an awareness drive on medication safety. Pamphlets and posters highlighting the importance of ADR reporting and responsible use of over-the-counter medications were distributed among the participants.

The initiative successfully sensitized students from non-medical backgrounds about the significance of medication safety and encouraged them to play an active role in spreading awareness on responsible drug use within their peer groups and communities.
