Continuing Medical Education (CME), Training Programmes and other activities conducted by Dept of Microbiology – 2025
In connection with International Infection Prevention Week 2025, the Department of Microbiology, in association with the Department of Infection Control, organized a series of educational programmes, workshops, and awareness activities for healthcare workers and the public from 21–23 October 2025.
- Day 1 21 October 2025: A training session on Hand Hygiene was conducted for the general category of healthcare workers. The session was led by Mrs. Shibi Jacob, Infection Control Nurse, JMMCRI, and was attended by 55 participants.
- Day 2 22 October 2025

- A workshop on the Preventive Aspects of Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) and Surgical Site Infection (SSI) was conducted for Infection Control Link Nurses by Mr. Kevin Chindwal (3M), with 50 participants in attendance
- An educational session on Complications of Intravenous Therapy was delivered by Ms. Vincy Varghese (BD) for Senior Staff Nurses and Deputy Nursing Superintendents, attended by 93 participants.
- Day 3 23 October 2025: A hands-on workshop on Intravenous Cannulation was conducted for Junior Staff Nurses by Mr. Shiju P.B. (Polymed), with 40 participants attending the programme.
In addition to the educational sessions:
- An interactive Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) awareness booth was set up over two days to engage and educate the public.
- A hospital-wide IPC Quiz Competition and a Reels Contest for hospital staff were also organized to promote awareness and encourage participation in infection prevention initiatives. Winners of both competitions were awarded prizes.
These activities provided a valuable platform for strengthening infection prevention and control practices among healthcare workers while fostering awareness and engagement across the hospital community
