Sustainability report

A sustainability strategy for Jubilee Mission Medical College (JMMC&RI) in Thrissur involves clean energy, waste management, water conservation, and green education. These steps lower the hospital’s carbon footprint while keeping healthcare affordable and eco-friendly.

Key Sustainability Pillars :-

  • Clean Energy Adoption: The campus has taken massive green strides, such as installing a major Solar Power Plant. Using solar energy reduces the reliance on fossil fuels. It cuts down long-term energy costs, allowing more money to be spent on patient care.

  • Zero Waste & Plastic Ban: The institution aims to be a strict plastic-free zone. This involves setting up Waste Segregation Bins across the campus to divide organic waste from recyclable materials. Students also upcycle waste for hostel use in “Craft from Crap” programs.

  • Water Conservation: Simple actions like fixing leaking taps and using water-saving reminders help save fresh water. Hospitals use a lot of water daily, so tracking water usage ensures there is no waste.

  • Green Spaces: Maintaining a natural campus provides stress relief and mental health benefits for both patients and staff. The college promotes the creation of Green Corners and Mini Gardens around the buildings.

  • Community & Education: Sustainability extends to community outreach. The institution hosts Environmental Day Celebrations to teach future doctors and nurses about “Green Healthcare”.
