Achievements

  • Reference Testing Centre for Advanced Immunohematology Workup: The department of Transfusion Medicine at JMMCH & RI, has the rare distinction of being selected as one of the few handful blood centers in India to function as a regional Reference Testing Centre for Advanced Immunohematology Workup.

  • Voluntary Blood Donation Drives :Our institution is a 1500-bedded tertiary care teaching hospital with an active blood center that supports a high-volume, multidisciplinary clinical service. The blood center traditionally conducts weekly outdoor blood donation camps, consistently contributing and strengthening our voluntary donor base and ensuring a reliable supply of safe blood components for patient care.

A comprehensive donor-engagement strategy is employed, comprising :-

  • Pre-camp Voluntary Blood Donation Awareness Sessions :-

    Educational modules addressing donor eligibility, safety, the need for regular voluntary blood donation, and myths frequently encountered in the community.

  • Student-led Awareness Programs :-

    Organized in collaboration with medical and paramedical students to strengthen youth engagement and community mobilization.

  • Thematic Campaigns :-

    Special drives are conducted on World Blood Donor Day and National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, focusing on donor motivation, public sensitization, and dissemination of scientific information on blood donation.

  • Co-curricular Activities :-

    Poster competitions, quizzes, flash mobs, and street-level awareness events are periodically arranged to broaden outreach and sustain public interest.

  • Recognition of Repeat Donors :-

    During observance days, regular voluntary donors (“blood heroes”) are honored to reinforce sustained altruistic behavior and encourage community role-modelling.

  • Jubilee Blood Brigade is an institutional WhatsApp :- based donor community comprising motivated and acknowledged voluntary blood donors across Jubilee Mission Hospital. The group includes undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty members, technical staff, and representatives from the administrative team, many of whom are regular and committed donors. The initiative serves as a structured platform to promote voluntary blood donation, streamline communication during urgent requirements, and foster a culture of altruism and social responsibility within the institution.

  • Hemophilia Care :- in collaborations with the world Hemophilia Federation,Transfusion Medicine department is an integral part of dedicated hemophilia clinics as well as an advanced coagulation laboratory and clinical services with use of the latest clinical protocols, laboratory algorithms and equipment such as visco-elastic testing and esoteric testing for coagulation and thrombotic disorders.

  • Academic & Research Achievements :- The faculty and students of the department of Transfusion Medicine have been contributing to fostering the research activities in the Institution, as evident by the numerous publications in various international and national journals of repute, along with active participation in international, national and state conferences and workshops.The department has also received ICMR grants for various research projects.
