  • Outpatient Services

Outpatient services six days a week, we attend to an average of 80 patients daily . Our treatment modalities include Pharmacotherapy, Psychotherapeutic interventions and Psychosocial support.

  • In Patient Services

With a capacity for 30 inpatients and additional payward rooms for approximately 10 patients, we cater to various diagnostic categories. Our treatment modalities encompass Pharmacotherapy, somatic treatment, Ketamine therapy, Psychotherapeutic interventions and Psychosocial support. Regular recreational activities are being held in the ward. Support group sessions for caregivers are held weekly.Sessions on Addiction and Social Skill Training are provided for patients.

  • Emergency Psychiatry Services

The Department of Psychiatry provides round-the-clock emergency psychiatric services to manage acute mental health crises in coordination with the Emergency Medicine Department.The department ensures timely intervention, risk assessment, crisis management, and referral for inpatient or outpatient care as indicated.

  • Electroconvulsive Therapy

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) is provided by the Department of Psychiatry as a safe and evidence-based treatment modality for selected psychiatric conditions, in accordance with standard clinical guidelines and ethical practices in a affordable manner.

  • Ketamine Therapy

Ketamine therapy is provided in patients requiring immediate symptom relief, in high risk conditions that require acute intervention.

  • Psychological Assessments and Therapies

In collaboration with the Clinical Psychology departement, psychological services are provided through standardized, evidence-based evaluation tools and structured psychotherapeutic interventions.

  • Family oriented Interventions

Family-Oriented Interventions are an integral component of the services provided by the Department of Psychiatry in collaboration with clinical psychology department and Psychiatric Social workers aimed at enhancing treatment outcomes through active family involvement.

  • Psycho- Social Services

Psycho-Social Services are provided with the Psychiatric Social Worker by the Department of Psychiatry as part of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to mental health care. These services address psychological, social, occupational, and environmental factors affecting mental health through counselling, psychosocial interventions, rehabilitation, and coordination with community resources, in accordance with evidence-based practices and ethical guidelines.

  • Rehabilitation Services

Extending our services beyond the college campus, we conduct regular visits to a rehabilitation center for chronic schizophrenics, TIMHANS and NEST deaddiction centre.

  • Consultation liason Services

We handle a significant volume of consultation-liaison psychiatry cases from various departments, including super specialty departments.

  • Academic Activities and Training

In addition to providing comprehensive clinical services, the Department of Psychiatry is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and academic training. The department conducts structured teaching programmes for MBBS students, house surgeons, MD Psychiatry postgraduate students, postgraduate students from other clinical departments, in accordance with prescribed curricula.

The department runs a postgraduate MD Psychiatry programme with an approved intake of three seats per year, contributing to the training of qualified specialists in psychiatry.

The department also offers clinical postings and internship opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students from allied disciplines including psychology, social work, and sociology, for varying durations, thereby promoting a multidisciplinary approach to mental healthcare education.

  • Research

Our research focuses on mood disorders, schizophrenia, alcohol dependence, and the interplay between mood disorders, personality disorders, alcoholism, and substance abuse.

  • Community Outreach Services

The department conducts regular community outreach activities focussed on mental health awareness, early identification and appropriate referral.
